Dog Boarding Facilities in Iowa

We drove 30 minutes to Whimsy to board our dog after coming highly recommended by a friend. I have had no complaints or problems and will continue to drive out of my way to make sure my dog is well taken care of

Our normal pet boarding place was booked up and we went to Whimsy Pet based on a friends recommendation - and are we glad we did. Vicky (the owner) was awesome. She bonded with our lab right away - (the dog treats helped)! We could tell our gal was going to be in good hands. The first time we took our pet to this person we requested an after hours pickup ( 1 hour after closing). We were told it was no problem but we would have to pay extra even though she lives next door. She failed to show up so we had to find out her last name and call information to get her home phone. The first time we took our pet to this person we requested an after hours pickup ( 1 hour after closing). We were told it was no problem but we would have to pay extra even though she lives next door. She failed to show up so we had to find out her last name and call information to get her home phone. We were then able to pick up our pet several hours after the scheduled pickup. The second time we were more careful about making after hours arrangements. She assured us that it wasn't a problem and suggested we call her to remind her. We did call and also reminded her employees. The card on our pets cage even had the date of pickup written on it. When we arrived nobody was there. We called and left several messages that were never answered. The following day we went to the facility and called the business and home phones. Even though there were cars in the driveway of her home (about 30 feet away) and we saw movement in the house nobody answered the phone. Several messages were left that day but were never answered. Finally a teenage employee opened the facility late that afternoon and when we were handed our bill it included the extra day that our pet was forced to stay. It this person was running a day care they would be in jail. We believe she told us that after hours pickup was "absolutely okay" in order to get us to leave our pet there. There are several other pet boarding businesses in the Adel area. I would suggest using one of those. P.S. On yellowpages.com there's a review about how they use shock collars. view short comment
