My wife and I have boarded our Shi-Tzu (Angel) at many kennels around the country and this place is by far the worst place we have ever left her. First of all, the facilities are old and in disrepair and they did not follow any of our requests for Angel, blanket, food etc. They provided her with no water, she spent the night on raw concrete and was not available for release as promised. On the morning of her scheduled pick up (9:00 am) I had to go into the unlocked office, walk back into a dark kennel, find Angel, unlock her cage, and leave the premise without ever encountering anyone. We left payment on the front desk and swore we would never return. My wife had previously shopped on line to find a Kennel to board Angel for one night while we stayed at the Gaylord Opry Land Resort in Nashville. The manager of Camp K-9 assured my wife she could pick up Angel at 9:00 am Sunday morning. Since we were only leaving her for about 16 hours we figured nothing could go wrong. Upon dropping her off at Camp K-9, a seeming uncaring young man assured us we could pick her up the next morning at 9:00 am and that they would feed her the food we had supplied and give her the blanket to sleep on we had also provided. My wife handed him a plastic bag with the food, blanket and a dog toy. He set the bag on the back counter and carried Angel into the kennel. Before we left the parking lot we noticed the manager and the young worker scurrying off the premise. We both thought, how could they have done all the things they were going to do, that fast. On Sunday morning at 9:00 am we arrived at Camp K-9 to pick up our dog. The front door to the office was open so we walked in. No one was there so we called the number posted in the office. An answering service said they would contact someone and they would take care of us. By 9:30 am no one had been there to maintain any dogs and no one had arrived to release our dog, even after numerous calls to the answering service, who got progressively rude to us. Because we were on a tight travel schedule we needed to get Angel and be on our way. I noticed that a room to the left of the office was unlocked and it led to the kennel. With flashlight in hand, because no light switch was available, I headed into the darkened kennel, which reeked with urine, and large dogs feverishly barking. It was like a scene in a horror movie. In the almost complete darkness I walked by cage after cage, shining my light looking for Angel. I began to wonder if I would ever find her or if I did, would she be chewed up or injured. I will never forget what I found next. I spotted a little white dog huddled in the corner on the concrete floor of a cage. In the cage was a mini bowl of some strange dog food and no water bowl and no blanket. Because it was so dark I had to make sure I had the right dog before I opened the cage. As soon as I spoke her name she sprang up, tail wagging, she was ready to get out of this hell hole. We made our way back to the office where I found her unopened bag still on the counter. We reluctantly left payment on the front desk. After words, reflecting on what had just taken place, I began to think about all the other dogs that were susceptible to someone coming in and taking them. I think what we have here is incompetent management in a very run down kennel. If you care for your canine friend, DO NOT leave them at Camp K-9. view short comment

My dog lost weight while here on multiple visits which I assumed was because of his anxiety in a new place, but found out that the employees had been instructed to feed the dogs 1 time a day 'to prevent bloat' no matter that you have given instructions for 2 meals a day. Camp K9 is not a place you should leave your pet. My dog lost weight while here on multiple visits which I assumed was because of his anxiety in a new place, but found out that the employees had been instructed to feed the dogs 1 time a day 'to prevent bloat' no matter that you have given instructions for 2 meals a day. He had many scratches which I didn't even think about because dogs will be dogs and may get into a scuffle. In talking to a friend who recommended camp K9 to me,she informed me of what had happened about my dog jumping fences and breaking down of a fence pole trying to play with another dog. (not his normal behavior at all). The management did not tell me of this until I asked and Crystal stated that she told the owner that it needed to get fixed so it just made it happen faster with him breaking it. view short comment
